National Afterschool Association

Since 1987, the National AfterSchool Association has championed the dedicated professionals who make a difference in young people’s lives every day.

OPEL is the Oklahoma Affiliate of the National AfterSchool Association. NAA and its State Affiliates share a mutual purpose and agreement to support, develop, and advocate for Out-of-School Time professionals and the profession. NAA and its State Affiliates build connectivity among stakeholders and create opportunities for engagement to ensure a vibrant future for the Out-of-School Time profession.

21st CCLC

OPEL partners with schools, community organizations, and agencies statewide to strengthen all out-of-school time (OST) programs, including those funded through the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program. 21st CCLC program plays a vital role in this work by establishing and expanding community learning centers that offer students academic enrichment opportunities and engaging activities that complement their regular school-day learning.


These centers provide tutoring, mentoring, homework help, and hands-on enrichment in areas such as science, technology, the arts, sports, and cultural learning—creating well-rounded opportunities for growth.
